Weekly Menu, May 22

Last week went super well, and this week is not off to a good start. We had a wonderful baseball game, which has been lots of super fun. Unfortunately, end of the year parties and gatherings have kept me so busy I didn't get dinner put together the way I'd hoped. Oh well, you win some and you loose some. Hopefully the rest of the week will go better.

I am keeping everything really simple and straightforward because I knew this week would be crazy. Next week will be just as bad (heads up) but then it should calm a little as we get into the summer swing. I am looking forward to relaxing a bit and spending some time with my kiddos. Maybe even some time in the kitchen.

I know it seems like chicken pot pie keeps coming up, but I have struggled to actually get it on the table. Every time it appears I'm hopeful this will be the week. If the stars align. I have all the ingredients and they really need to be used up.

Weekly Menu, May 15

We are so on the countdown at our house. Only 2 more weeks of school! WHAT!?! It cannot possibly be the end of the school year already. Why does everything seem to get faster and faster. I have been researching all the summer activities that are available at the local movie theatres, bookstores, and libraries. Lot so of good stuff happening. It’s going to be so much fun, but I fear the summer will go just as fast and before you know it, kiddos will be back in school.

Last week got weird. It was my birthday, but we had karate and baseball. My mom and I did get a little shopping trip in with my girl, and of course she scored some super cute sun dresses. We actually tried a couple restaurants for lunches; one was an oldie and even better than ever, the other was supposed to be great but turned out kind of blah.

This week I’m trying to stick to the menu a little better. We have lots of classics that should keep everyone happy. I am trying to get some different things into the lunch menu. My son has finally gotten burned out on PBJ so I’ve been trying to send some different things. In two weeks I’ll be able to experiment on summer/home lunches and get some new ideas…I hope.

Weekly Post, May 8

It seems I might need to take a break from life in May. It’s crazy! The older the kids get, the busier things are.  We have baseball practices and games, karate, spring festivals and fairs, end-of-year school parties and teacher appreciations. The list goes on and on.

I have been making menus, and here and there even trying some pins and recipes I’ve found. The truth is though, sometimes they are utilized and sometimes I am lucky to get sandwiches on the table.  Sometimes we don’t even get to eat at the table, it’s in the car on our way to an activity. It’s all good though. I know it will slow down soon and I will look back at these times with fond memories, or rose-colored glasses maybe.
